If you live close to Agios Nikolaos or Elounda, you should book a private boat trip from Ierapetra to Chrissi island or Gaidouronissi for your family or friends with your personal skipper. Not only, will you learn a lot more about travelling around Crete with the locals, but you will also make new Cretan friends. Our skippers will show you around the coast of Eastern Crete and will provide you with some local Cretan snacks when on board of our RIB boat.
The boat trip to Chrissi Island will only take 20 minutes till you reach the island and it’s located 8-10miles from Ierapetra port. As we have been told by one guest “I was amazed by the crystal colours of the sea and the pink sandy beach of the island of Chrissi”. The card postale effect will unfold in front of you. The cyan crystal waters, the white sand let alone the cedar trees that give the effect that they are all sculptures sculpted by the sea.
When in Chrissi Island you will be enticed to gather sea shells and cedar branches, but please consider the natural habitat and always leave it as it is.
A fun fact about Chrissi island is that it is also called Gaidouronissi (Greek for Donkey Island) and is uninhabited at the moment.
Bonus Tip: if the Greek God Poseidon allows it, the winds will be soft and smooth. Then, on your private boat trip from Ierapetra to Crhissi you might be able to see the dolphins from our boat.
If you are in the mood for a longer boat trip, you could always go to Koufonissi by boat. With our loyal skippers you will always feel safe no matter the weather conditions and anywhere you want to go around the coast of Crete by boat.
This excursion to Koufonissi by boat will venture you towards the Lybian sea at the southeastern part of Crete. Your private boat trip can depart from Makrys Gialos. Makrys Gialos’ port is the best option to reach Koufonissi, since it’s closer to the island, in contrast to Ierapetra.
Soon, you will realize that we are getting closer to Koufonissi and you will realize that you have reached an breathtaking exotic island. The caves and their white rocky bays are an incredible sight.
When you visit Koufonissi on the land you will have to wear sneakers and always carry water and a hat with you. Also, bare in mind that the island is uninhabited. Otherwise, you can enjoy your meal on board, dive as many times as you want from our boat and relax with some great music.
